ASCD: Special Report, August 2009
In this ever-changing world, educators must not only utilize technology to engage students but also to help students understand the capabilities -- and possible abuses -- of the media they are increasingly using in their everyday lives. This two-part ASCD SmartBrief Special Report, "Literacy 2.0," looks at the best ways to do that. Part I of this special report examines what it means to be literate in the digital age. How do teachers incorporate such tools as social networking in lessons? And how do schools attempt to bridge the digital divide for students?
